How to Volunteer

Being a member of SLVFD is a very rewarding experience. SLVFD strives to provide the best possible service to the citizens and visitors of the area, and we are looking for more members to help us deliver this service.

If controlling a wildland fire or providing medical aide isn't something you want to do, we can still use your help.

Running a fire department requires having members who can work on administrative duties or support other duties around the station.

It is important for members to either own or have access to a place to stay in the Shaver Lake area.

“You must be at least 18 years old, and willing to put in the time it takes to train and respond to calls. You do not need to be a full time resident of the greater Shaver Lake area but you do need to have a residence or access to a residence. We know our volunteer members have their jobs or other obligations, so we don't expect 100% participation in every call or at our weekly training. But we do require a certain level of commitment to both training and calls.”
