This is Creek Fire 5 Year Commemoration
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the Shaver Lake Civic League will hosted a Five-Year Creek Fire Commemorative Event to recognize and honor the courageous first responders from all of the various agencies who fought tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and natural resources during the historic Creek Fire of 2020.
Held at the Shaver Lake Community Center, the event brought together first responders from a wide variety of agencies whose members played a role in saving our community. Those agencies attending included CalFire, Fresno County Fire, USFS, Clovis Fire Department, Fresno Fire Dept, Fresno Sheriff’s office, Fresno Police Department, CHP, Caltrans, Clovis Police Department, Central Valley Animal Disaster Team, Huntington Lake Fire, Auberry Fire Department, Tim Messer tree fallers, American Ambulance, Community Hospitals burn unit, Red Cross and the Shaver Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Also attending were Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig and a representative from California State Assemblyman David Tangipa’s Office.
The highlight of the day was the attendance at the event of the US Army National Guard Chinook helicopter that was involved in the rescue at Mammoth pools, along with a number of the same crew that participated in that rescue.
A wide array of emergency vehicles, equipment displays, and agency booths were on site, giving the public an up-close look at the tools used during and immediately after the fire. Attendees had the opportunity to meet and thank the men and women who were on the front lines as well as those who supported them politically and logistically.
Additional highlights included a live musical performance, a diverse selection of local food and beverage vendors, kids activities and a moving photo and video gallery inside the Community Center, showcasing Photographs and video imagery from the fire’s three-month battle.
